Glass Door

St Luke’s is proud to be a community partner of the charity Glass Door.

Glass Door is a charity whose vision is a future where no one experiences homelessness in London. They offer advice, shelter and support with their community partners, helping people build a route out of homelessness. Year-round, people find advice and support to end their homelessness through trained caseworkers based at partnering drop-in centres.

During the hard months of winter, November to March, Glass Door also provides emergency winter night shelter at various locations. Last winter, overall, 569 people were supported in this way. There are a number of ‘circuits’ in SW London and in one of those, St Lukes, together with six other local churches provide support for around 25-30 guests on each night of the week. Here at St. Luke’s four teams of volunteers, supported by trained Glass Door staff, take turns to cover every Sunday night in the season, preparing and serving a three-course meal in the church hall, after which the guests go to sleep and are served breakfast before departing early Monday morning.
