Get Involved
Being part of St Luke’s goes beyond just attending on a Sunday. Our church relies on the time, skills, and energy of volunteers to keep our doors open, our services running, and our community supported.
Whether you have an hour a month or a regular weekly slot, there are plenty of practical ways to contribute to church life.
Sunday Team
Our Sunday services only happen because a team of people pitch in behind the scenes. If you are regularly with us on a Sunday morning, consider joining one of our teams:
Welcome Team: Greeting people at the door, handing out service sheets, and helping newcomers find their way.
Hospitality: Helping set up, serve, and clear away refreshments after the service.
Service Participation: Reading a scripture passage, leading intercessions, or joining the choir.
Christenings: Assisting our clergy with our baptism services.
Midweek & Behind the Scenes
If your Sundays are already packed, or you prefer to contribute during the week, we always appreciate practical help around the building and grounds:
Church Maintenance & Gardening: Helping tend our outdoor spaces or tackling small DIY and maintenance tasks inside.
Flowers: Assisting with decorating our church for special festivals and occasions.
Youth & Children’s Activities: Supporting our midweek playgroups, and our Friday evening Youth Group
Community & Outreach
We partner with local organisations to support our neighbours in Battersea and the wider Wandsworth area.
Glassdoor: Being part of our team welcoming clients at our homeless shelter.
Community Events: Volunteering at seasonal events, fairs, or neighbourhood initiatives hosted at the church.
