The Nehemiah Project

The Nehemiah Project provides a home and support to men with a history of addiction who are willing and ready to deal with their addiction. Nehemiah offers residential support with the aim of transforming their lives. The programme requires each resident to commit to an abstinence-based programme and strict rules and in turn the programme provides structure and a supportive environment where men can address the root causes of their addiction, learning to make informed choices about their lives. The project has been running successfully for 23 years and has recently been able to expand to new residences in Clapham and Croydon as well as in Tooting. They now have a total of 6 houses running the programme. Many of the men are from very difficult backgrounds, from abuse to deprivation and/or to just having left prison. The Project also focuses on trying to get participants to re-establish family relationships that have often broken down, for instance when the men were substance abusers and in prison. tnp.org.uk
