Music
Music plays a major part in the life of St Luke's.
We are fortunate to have a large choir led by a talented Director of Music (Derek Carden email). The choir, which is robed, leads the singing at the 10:00 Parish Eucharist service every Sunday morning and at other large services. An anthem is sung every week.
St Luke's Assistant Director of Music, also a professionally trained musician, coaches our thriving Junior Choir.
Choral Evensong is sung six times a year by Quorum, a choir of high standard associated with the church.
We are grateful for the financial support of the church and community members over the last few years which has enabled the recent restoration of the church organ - a fine example of a Lewis organ. During this fund raising campaign, and others, members of the church greatly enjoyed participating in musical productions of a less formal nature also (e.g. St Luke's workshop: A Sound of Music; St Luke's production: Joseph).
The St Luke's Music Society provides a magnificent programme of concerts embracing a wide range of musical styles and genres.
