  1. ACE of CLUBS is a local charity whose objective is to guide homeless or vulnerable people towards a more secure way of life, rather than onto the streets.   They provide free professional advice and emotional support to enable people to make informed decisions about their lives, and a meal service in return for vouchers that churches can buy and distribute. (£700)
  2. BOLIVIASumunpaya Sud community Centre in Cochabamba is run by friends of Jenny Humphrey’s.   The centre is in an area of extreme poverty and is helping families with health and education in an area with high crime rates, alcohol and drug abuse.         (£700)
  3. CANCER SUPPORT CENTRE (Paul d’Auria) supports cancer sufferers by services including counselling, massage, relaxation, and meditation  and also supporting them and their families through home visiting.   Paul d’Auria whose name they now work under was for many years a neighbour of the Pettems, and was supported by the centre. (£500)  
  4. CHRIST CHURCH SCHOOL Battersea.  Christ church school takes children mainly from the Patmore estate, where there is a high incidence of broken families, social deprivation, and crime. For many children English is not their first language.   The school provides a safe and loving environment.    Elizabeth Johnson is clerk to the governors.    (£2800 – Proceeds of Bridge evening for their community garden project)                             
  5. CHURCH URBAN FUND   The money donated will be used to support Churches in the very poorest Communities in the UK. (£700)
  6. COMMUNITY PROJECTS.    A team from St. Luke’s helps elderly and disadvantaged people with painting and decorating, gardening.
  7. CONGO. Centre Medicale Evangelique in Bunia N.E. Congo where Paul Bracken has a link, and has visited twice to teach and advise laboratory staff.    The hospital also supports many displaced people as well as the local population, and is always in need of money. The hospital is also involved in training staff in many disciplines, including medicine, nursing, and laboratory work  (£600)
  8. CHURCH MISSIONARY SOCIETY   supports worldwide Christian missions and has a commitment to give aid wherever there are problems with health, poverty or literacy, including work with refugees. (£700)
  9. ESTHER BENJAMIN TRUST, NEPAL   The Trust rescues children who have been snatched by traffickers and put into circuses and domestic labour. Friends of John and Cynthia run this project. (£700)
  10. FOUNDATION FOR RELIEF AND RECONCILIATION IN THE MIDDLE EAST sustains the work of St. George’s Church in Baghdad.   Rev. Canon Andrew White writes of such terrible fear and suffering, and people being in need of all basic necessities.   St. Luke’s pays for the running of the church 2 days a year, and helps to support the Mother’s Union with their outreach work in the local community. (£700)
  11. ISUBILO, ZAMBIAThis is a project to support children who are orphans, many of whom have health problems including HIV, AIDS and TB. Rebecca Moyse helped there in her gap year, and during her University holidays. (£700)
  12. JOLIBA TRUST supports grassroots development work with farming and cattle-raising communities in some of the most marginal areas of Mali.   They focus on women offering small loans to enable them to start income generating activities.   They are also helping to train midwives in a country where 1 woman in 5 dies from childbirth complications.   A group from St. Luke’s visited Mali and were impressed with the work that they saw. (£700)  
  13. KENYA HOSPICE CARE is an organisation offering terminal care both in hospital and at home, mainly for patients with HIV/ AIDS They run training programmes for nurses and work with communities to encourage help for families facing bereavement particularly when children will be orphaned.   Ruth Woolridge was one of the original founders. (£700)                                                               
  14. KIEV – We are supporting   the “Hope” Drug Rehab Centre for Women, many of whom suffer from HIV/AIDS.   “Hope” is running a programme to raise awareness among health professionals and church leaders throughout Ukraine of HIV/AIDS and drug addiction, .Katherine and Roland Smith had contact with this charity when they lived in Kiev. (£700) 
  15. NEW BRIDGE is a scheme for befriending prisoners, through letters and occasional visits. 4 members of the congregation are volunteers on this scheme. (£700)
  16. PLETTAID FOUNDATION – SOUTH AFRICA   This is a safe house for women and children who need refuge from domestic violence, and  also provides home care, and in-patient hospice care for those suffering from HIV/AIDS. Run by friends of Sandy Burne (£700)
  17. RWANDA   The Shyogwe Diocese is building and developing schools and providing vocational training for the many orphans left as a result of the genocide.  Only 15%of those completing primary education, go on to secondary or technical training.  The trust is aiming to promote self sufficiency.   Friends of Laurie Lowrie have a connection with the school. (£700)
  18. SPIRES CENTRE   This charity in Streatham helps hundreds of homeless and disadvantaged people each year to access support at times of crisis, and to help people achieve long-term solutions to their problems, including housing, drug and alcohol dependency and to offer job training activities.   Katherine Smith worked here during one of her placements. (£700)
  19. SPRINGFIELD COMMUNITY FLAT is a centre that runs crèches, before and after school, holiday clubs, and clubs for teen-agers and provision for the elderly.   It is in the housing estate on the Wandsworth Road. Katherine Smith did one of her training placements here. (£700)
  20. STREET PASTORS   A scheme in Wandsworth policing the streets during evenings and week-end nights, run by volunteers and supported by the local  churches.   Libby Spurrier is one of their volunteers. (£700)
  21. TANZANIA - MALAIKA KIDS supplies homes and education for some of the 2 million children in Tanzania orphaned by HIV/AIDS.  They provide support for relatives of these children, and build villages where orphans are cared for, aiming for them to become self-sufficient .   Nigel and Jane Fawkes have visited the centre.  (£700)  
  22. 86a THURLEIGH ROAD  run by Wandsworth Social Services.   They are fully funded, but we like to maintain a contact, and give them each a donation for Christmas. (£100) 
  23. UGANDA SOCIETY OF THE SACRED HEART SCHOOLS   runs schools for children from far and wide, covering an academic syllabus, as well as domestic skills, including sewing typing and gardening for them to take back to their villages.   Many of the children are orphaned by war or AIDS and St. Luke’s donation is to help with their fees of £50each per term. Henry Wemyss has a connection with the school. (£700)                                                                                                              
  24. U.S.P.G. – works in partnership with churches in over 50 countries exchanging people resources, and providing training.   We are now supporting 2 projects. 1) St. Luke’s Hospital in Malawi, in an area where 1 in 3 of those who are under l8 is an orphan and half of those are under 5 years old.  2) Teule Hospital in Tanzania, a rural district hospital that is pioneering HIV/AIDS education, prevention and care.   Both hospitals struggle financially (£500 each)                                                                                      
  25. WANDSWORTH PRISON, CHAPLAINCY DEPT. We have donated money for a workshop for the choir which is run by the Chaplain. The choir is much enjoyed by some of the prisoners. Three members of our committee went to their carol service and were impressed by the work being done. (£700)
  26. WANDSWORTH REFUGEE TRUST.   This organisation, run by local churches aims to assist asylum seekers who are homeless, and to help others find their way through the system. Many of them are destitute. Denise Mumford preached on the subject last year, and is a founder member of the Trust. (£700)
  27. WELCARE works with parents and children together to strengthen relationships at home and in    the wider community.   WelCare aims to help improve the quality of family life for families living predominantly in the borough of Wandsworth, who for a variety of reasons often find themselves marginalized and socially excluded. Their work now includes asylum seekers, and their children.   Several people at St. Luke’s help Welcare in a variety of ways. (£700)                                     
  28. WESTERN LODGE is a charity for homeless men, many as a result of broken families, aiming to give them a fresh start. It is situated within our parish, on Clapham Common West Side. £200 extra was given at Christmas, so that the men could all have a present.  Ravi acts as their Chaplain. (£500 + £200 for Christmas)
  29. ZIMBABWE.   The Kingston Diocese has a link with Matabeleland Diocese.   Everyone is experiencing extreme hardship and many of the clergy are not being paid.   St. Luke’s is supporting a parish priest by paying his stipend. (£700)

£ for £ scheme, is an opportunity for members of the congregation to raise money for charities that they like to support and the committee will double the amount up to £100.  (£400)
